Drive the Golden Circle Route

The Golden Circle is a 360-mile loop connecting the Alaska Highway and Haines Highway. While visitors could take just a day or two to drive the Golden Circle, the lakes, canyons and mountains travelers will see along the way will likely convince them to take their time. The route goes from picturesque Skagway, Alaska, to the capital of the Yukon, Whitehorse, via the Klondike Highway. From Whitehorse, the route makes its way to the hub of the Kluane Region, Haines Junction. From there, it travels through the Tatshenshini-Alsek and Kluane National Park to Haines, Alaska. From Haines, the route returns to Skagway via the historic Alaska Marine Highway System.

Highlights of this multi-day drive include Emerald Lake, Miles Canyon and numerous museums, shops and attractions along the way. Not to mention the Wrangell-St. Elias Mountains, Kluane National Park and the dramatic Chilkat Pass. Finally, visitors can hit the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve before a scenic ferry ride back to their starting point in Skagway.
